NTTTBGM Board Game Group – Rules of Conduct

Our board game group exists to be a welcoming, fun, and respectful place for everyone. By attending, you agree to help maintain an environment where all participants feel comfortable and included.

1. Everyone Is Welcome

All players are welcome regardless of race, ethnicity, nationality, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, or political affiliation. We value diversity and want everyone to feel safe, respected, and able to enjoy themselves.

2. Be Respectful and Considerate

Treat all participants with courtesy and goodwill.

Friendly table talk, light teasing, and joking about gameplay (for example, good-natured comments about someone being very skilled or unlucky) are part of many games and are fine as long as everyone involved is comfortable.

The following behaviors are not acceptable:

  • Bullying, harassment, or intimidation
  • Insults or personal attacks
  • Antagonizing others or deliberately making them uncomfortable
  • Sexual comments, innuendo, or unwanted attention
  • Discriminatory language, stereotypes, or “jokes” targeting personal identity
  • Repeated or aggressive behavior that disrupts the group

If someone indicates that a comment or behavior is making them uncomfortable, please respect that and stop immediately.

3. Zero Tolerance for Hate or Harassment

Hate speech, harassment, or discrimination based on race, gender, sexuality, religion, political beliefs, or any other personal characteristic will not be tolerated, regardless of intent.

4. Consent, Boundaries, and Privacy

  • Respect personal space and boundaries at all times.
  • Do not touch other players or their belongings without permission.
  • Do not pressure anyone to share personal information.
  • Respect privacy: no recording, photos, or online posts without consent.
  • What’s shared within the group should remain private unless everyone involved agrees otherwise.

5. Substance Use and Legal Conduct

  • Please do not attend while excessively intoxicated or impaired.
  • Illegal drugs or illegal activities of any kind are not permitted.
  • Alcohol, if present, must be consumed responsibly.
  • Anyone behaving unsafely or disruptively due to substance use may be asked to leave.

6. Respect the Venue

We often rent or borrow the spaces where we meet. Everyone is expected to:

  • Treat the location with care
  • Follow any posted rules or venue guidelines
  • Clean up after themselves
  • Avoid damaging property, furniture, or equipment

Respecting the space helps ensure we can continue to use it.

7. Respect Games and Equipment

  • Handle games and components carefully.
  • Ask before eating or drinking near games.
  • Be honest about accidents or damage.

8. Sportsmanship and Fun

  • Remember that games are meant to be enjoyable.
  • Winning is never more important than the group’s overall experience.
  • Be patient with new players and respectful of different skill levels.
  • Avoid excessive rules-lawyering, gloating, or negativity.

9. Handling Issues

If a problem arises:

  • Try to address it calmly and respectfully when appropriate.
  • If needed, bring concerns to the group organizer.
  • Organizers may ask someone to take a break, leave for the evening, or stop attending future events if behavior consistently violates these guidelines.

10. Organizer Responsibility

Group organizers reserve the right to enforce these rules to protect the comfort, safety, and enjoyment of everyone involved.
