These days, the term “kinetic art” means “machinery” to me. It is physical and moves from the wind, a motor, or perhaps someone turning a crank. I don’t think of kinetic art as pictures.

Television is certainly not kinetic art.

Art on a screen can be kinetic. Like a painting but with motion in the image. I created a simple htML5 experiment called CircleArt at www.rectorsquid.com/circleart.html to look like some doodles I draw now and then. The doodles are usually circles connected by lines and the kinetic part of those doodles is the act of drawing them. The lines grow and the circles form. Beyond that, the pictures are static. This HTML5 experiment is not so static.

There is nothing clever in the JavaScript on in the HMTL5 content. None of the code is worth describing in detail but anyone is free to take a look at it.
