I split my storm paddle along one of the lamination glue joints.
Storm Paddle
I glued the split with some Gorilla glue. Once dried, I machined a flat spot along the end of the blade and glued on a piece of teak wood. I used teak because I had some and it seemed like a good choice for the part of the paddle that might get exposed to water if I scrape off the polyurethane by accident.

The teak is oily and makes the polyurethane take a long time to dry compared to using a drier wood. I should have dried the teak first although the oiliness of it will help if I do expose it to water.
